It was free for everyone for a few years, only started charging last year.
Routing, aggregation, risk control, nodes, pricing, trading – all these services are top‑tier.
Many similar on‑chain trading tools have a total cost close to 1% or even higher.
Several exchanges make the fee less obvious, even not prompting it, so users hardly notice.
I remember when they first started charging last year I argued with a user from some platform who said OKX's fee was expensive, while that platform claimed no fees, but after a back‑and‑forth we found that platform also charges 0.5% 🤣🤣
