Our Crypto OG reviewers note that Moonbeam $GLMR continues to offer solid technology through its EVM compatibility and interoperability focus, making it one of the more established ecosystems within the Polkadot landscape. However years of weak price performance, growing competition from Layer-2 networks and uncertainty surrounding recent ecosystem changes have made it difficult for the token to regain investor confidence despite most of the supply already being in circulation.

Can Moonbeam convert its technical strengths into sustained user activity and demand or will ecosystem uncertainty continue to outweigh its long-term potential?

According to Wu, the cross-chain protocol Wormhole announced that the Moonbeam network will be officially shut down on July 31, 2026. Moonbeam will keep the parachain running during the transition period, but after July 31 the chain will cease operation. Wormhole noted that after this date, contributors to Portal and Wormhole will not be able to help recover any assets stored on the chain. Wormhole advises users to transfer external assets off the chain via Moonbeam’s official channels before the deadline.
