OGAudit Web3 Research: @hiveblocks $HIVE - Six Years Post-Fork, Still the Fee less Social Chain, Still Under $30M?
Hive is a Delegated Proof-of-Stake blockchain purpose built for content storage and time based monetization, using a fee less resource credit system instead of transaction fees:
- Accounts stake HIVE into Hive Power (HP) to earn Resource Credits that self replenish 20% every 24 hours, meaning even accounts with zero investment can still post and transact at a limited rate, a deliberate design choice to lower the barrier to entry for new users compared to fee based chains.
- The Proof-of-Brain reward model splits 65% of Hive’s declining inflation into a content/curation reward pool (50% to creators, 50% to curators who upvote within a 7 day window) with the remainder split between HP stakeholders (15%), block-producing witnesses (10%) and the community governed Decentralized Hive Fund (10%), inflation itself decreases roughly 0.5% per year until it bottoms out at 0.95%.
- Current CoinCodex data shows a 39% yearly supply inflation rate (142.98M HIVE created in the last year) even as the token trades at a fresh all time low, meaning the reward pool mechanism designed to incentivize content is currently adding meaningful new supply during a period of already weak demand.
Is a genuinely decentralized, fee less social blockchain with real governance history (the Steem fork itself proved the community would act to protect decentralization) enough to eventually attract fresh interest or does a fresh all time low combined with a 39% annual inflation rate suggest HIVE’s tokenomics are currently working against, not for, price recovery?
