🚨 Gigantic hack at Drift Protocol on Solana

Yesterday (April 1) the popular perpetuals DEX Drift was hacked. In less than an hour, over $270-285 million worth of assets were pulled from the vaults – mainly JLP tokens, USDC, SOL and other crypto.

The protocol itself confirmed an “active attack”, suspended deposits and withdrawals and said: “This is not an April Fools joke.”

The hackers quickly swapped most of the money into stablecoins via Jupiter, bridged it to Ethereum and are now buying ETH en masse. They have already bought 130,262 ETH worth $267 million.

Meanwhile the $DRIFT token is crashing hard: down more than 40% already. Confidence in Solana DeFi has taken another big hit.

Classic hack move: converting stolen money into the most liquid asset to erase traces.

Yesterday Drift was stolen of about $270 million, representing half of its TVL. This wasn’t an accident; the hacker prepared the wallet a week in advance, and the funds are currently flowing to Binance and cross‑chain protocols.

Key points:
• $DRIFT plummeted, and market panic continues to spread.

• Associated risks: downstream protocols such as reflectmoney, project0, and six others (total 8) have been affected and are now paused.

• It is recommended that everyone immediately check their wallets and withdraw any LP exposure related to Drift.
