Base has pushed token infrastructure to GitHub, but the author believes that issuing a token for Base is a mistaken decision for Coinbase.
Base launching a token would be a mistake IMO.
To make Base valuable Coinbase would need to direct sequencer revenues to Base token.
If that happens, Coinbase the company would lose all the Base revenue (which at one point was a $100m line item business and can be again).
And if they did give the revenue to Base it just muddies how people should think about Coinbase the equity.
Single value accrual assets are better than dual value accrual assets.
