Seeing @HorizenLabs ($ZEN) transition to a Base L3 mainnet, I felt a bit emotional. As a typical case, I'll briefly explain, the challenges ZEN faces mainly stem from two points: 1⃣ First is the common problem all privacy projects face: regulatory pressure and market positioning confusion. After the LUNA crash, the global regulatory crackdown on privacy coins forced Horizen to remove privacy transaction functions from its mainnet to avoid delisting risk from several major exchanges. This regulatory incident also proves one thing: a completely anonymous, unregulated privacy path is not viable in market adoption and compliance. Therefore, a key consensus in the current privacy track is to provide selectively disclosed privacy features to meet institutional and user needs, rather than fighting regulation. I've been expressing this view: only privacy that can be selectively disclosed can be called privacy. 2⃣ The second is the common problem most so-called L1s face: As an older project that started in 2017 and focuses on privacy, Horizen has some technical accumulation in zero‑knowledge proofs, but the independent ecosystem development has always been lukewarm, facing classic issues such as insufficient developers, scarce applications, fragmented liquidity, and limited brand voice. As the Ethereum L2 ecosystem represented by Base, supported by Coinbase, rapidly rises, creating a strong developer, user, and capital aggregation effect. So for Horizen, rather than continuing to painstakingly maintain an entire independent blockchain infrastructure, it is better to attach to a thriving super‑ecosystem, focus on its strongest privacy technology, and instantly gain a ready, massive market entry. Therefore, in my view, this transition can also be seen as a landmark event: Ethereum and its L2‑built layered architecture ecosystem have matured enough to attract and absorb other distinctive independent blockchains. It is no longer a simple asset cross‑chain, but the entire chain, with its core tech stack and community vision, integrates into Ethereum's ecological matrix. This also validates what I've been saying: Ethereum will serve as the ultimate global settlement layer and security base. In the future, many L1s will face two choices: extinction or becoming Ethereum ecosystem L2/L3. All chains return to E. #TheYearofEthereum
