On the day after a stock closes higher, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have probabilities of opening higher the next trading day of 82% and 95% respectively. When a stock closes lower, the probabilities of opening lower the next trading day are 96% for Samsung Electronics and 78% for SK Hynix. Their movement consistency is about 85%, with correlation coefficients between 0.85 and 0.89.

At the same time, even for the same stock, perpetual contract prices differ across exchanges. Data from June 2026 shows Binance's Samsung Electronics perpetual contract price is on average 0.93% higher than Hyperliquid's. SK Hynix's contract price is 1.03% higher, reaching up to 2.3% at its peak.

Positions cannot be transferred between exchanges. Traders need to establish opposite positions on both exchanges. Shorting on the exchange with the higher price and going long on the exchange with the lower price allows directional P&L to offset each other. As the two prices converge, the initial spread turns into profit. Moreover, short positions on the higher-priced exchange can also generate funding, increasing returns.

This shows that crypto-based stock spot and contract arbitrage is gradually becoming professionalized; the fee space is still a blue ocean.
