Jupiter just proposed killing their airdrop program indefinitely. If you were looking forward to Jupuary, you might be mad about the proposal. Fair enough. But this idea is a VERY solid one, and it’s mainly about one thing: Stopping the bleed of investor value to fund an outdated marketing tactic that has essentially put a ceiling on $JUP’s growth. Cause if you invest in $JUP today, your capital is indirectly being redistributed to users who farmed with $4 across 50 wallets. (The same users that will sell the moment they receive the drop). These aren't community members. They're mercenaries extracting value from actual investors who took real risk on the protocol. No serious allocator will touch a protocol with that kind of system in place (why would they deploy real capital knowing it's just going to subsidize airdrop farmers?) @JupiterExchange’s proposal stops this kind of sell-pressure (and more) by: - Postponing the Jupuary airdrop indefinitely. - Pausing team reserve emissions indefinitely. -

Today, we are putting forward an important proposal aimed at effectively bringing net emissions to zero for the foreseeable future. This includes: 1. Indefinitely pausing emissions from the Team Reserve 2. Absorbing any team sales of vesting tokens into the Jupiter treasury 3. Indefinitely postponing Jupuary 4. New DAO Proposal: Bring Net Emissions To Zero (Jupiter Goes Green) Today, we shared one of the most important @jup_dao proposals so far. The objective: take $JUP net emissions to effectively zero. To be clear, we are not unilaterally deciding on this plan. This is exactly the kind of high-leverage decision that affects all token holders, and as such ought to go to a DAO vote. If the vote doesn’t pass, we will continue with Jupuary. The airdrop checker will be released ~Feb 28th and the actual airdrop will take place on ~March 7th. But if this vote passes, it will address a key point of concern from token holders, build a powerful narrative, and demonstrate a ridiculously high level of conviction in the long-term importance of $JUP. Next week, the DAO will vote on two options: Options: > Proceed with the March 7th airdrop. > Pause both Team Emissions and Jupuary indefinitely, and offset the Mercurial vesting. Important: Jupiter is not deciding to postpone Jupuary unilaterally. Jupuary was approved by the DAO, and any decision to postpone it must also go through a DAO vote.
