Even if this story is old and everything is clear now, I want to rewrite it here for you. ✍️🔥👇 ✨ HUGE MANIPULATION STEP BY STEP Back in March 2025, what happened with $jellyjelly on Hyperliquid was a massive, coordinated manipulation attack, targeting Hyperliquid itself. A whale trader (the manipulator) opened: → one very large $4.5M short position → plus two long positions of $2.5M each, all with big leverage 💪 He prepared his attack by accumulating some supply on-chain before the move. 🧠💡 👉 The manipulator then dumped some on-chain supply. 👉 The short position initially made profits, allowing him to withdraw margin gradually and intentionally push his own position toward self-liquidation. Hyperliquid’s liquidation mechanism relies on a vault-based system. Because the short position was extremely large vs the pool liquidity, the liquidation process failed to execute normally, and the HLP vault inherited the position. At that exact moment, the attacker began aggressively pumping the token on-chain (using a Solana wallet like you and me on Jupiter) with huge buys, driving the price up sharply. The result was predictable: 👉 a massive SHORT SQUEEZE. ✨ Consequences: ➡️ The attacker made huge profits on the two long positions ➡️ Hyperliquid’s vault ate over $12M in losses ➡️ Hyperliquid was forced to shut down the perps market, delist $JELLYJELLY, and reimburse long traders Perp price failed to follow the real on-chain spot price because of low liquidity and oracle limitations What happened with $JELLYJELLY on HL was an attack targeting HL. Many CT lords thought it was from Binance Insiders.
