    KIP-20 — Covenant Identifiers SilverScript introduces a high-level way to author covenants on Kaspa. KIP-20 complements this at the consensus layer by enabling covenant identity to persist across UTXO transitions, without requiring parent or grandparent transaction witnesses. Technically Speaking KIP-20 introduces a consensus-tracked 32-byte identifier, called a covenant_id, that is carried by UTXOs as they move through transactions. This allows a covenant to maintain a stable identity across state transitions. An output can only carry a given covenant_id if it either continues an existing covenant or correctly initializes a new one through a defined genesis rule. This is enforced at the consensus layer, which means covenant-labeled UTXOs cannot be created unless they are valid continuations or valid genesis outputs. Working alongside KIP-17, this provides a native way to track covenant lineage over time without requiring spending transactions to include parent or grandparent transaction data. Covenant id
