    Almost 5 months ago, I explained why Telegram is losing the miniapps battle! And the numbers are declining. Started with close to 800 million active users, the Telegram miniapp ecosystem now has less than 150m monthly active users. The INSANE noise has reduced BIG time. Initial hype was primarily because of @notcoin @hamster_kombat @the_yescoin and literally hundreds of tap-to-earn miniapps on the TON blockchain. Obviously, nothing against the TON ecosystem but there were several bad decisions along the way as well. One example: they forced EVERY miniapp to integrate the TON blockchain and the network was “closed” for other chains. On the other hand, Farcaster started small and supported multiple chains. Farcaster now has over 4000 miniapps. These apps are open, not gated, and permissionless allowing anyone to build anything anytime. Farcaster continues to grow. As my friend @Dylan_Steck once said: miniapps on Farcaster (and the Base app) are the front door for many users now. Telegram, despite having millions of users, clearly lost traction. It will be interesting to see how Farcaster evolves with the Base app going out of Beta this year and Zapper coming in as a new client.

    A lot of people don’t even know this, but the whole reason I opened this X account was because I was trying to complete tasks for an airdrop I was farming on Telegram back in 2019. Funny enough, one of the airdrops I joined was something called GRAM airdrop bot. I can’t even remember the exact name of the bot anymore. They were riding the hype around $GRAM (which eventually became $TON ) when the SEC prevented Telegram from launching and distributing the token in October 2019. Of course that airdrop bot turned out to be a scam. The moment I saw the usual line asking me to refer 10 people and send TRX to an address as a gas fee to receive my airdrop, I already knew it was over. But that whole experience actually pushed me deeper into the TON \u0026 Telegram ecosystem, and into crypto in general. It made me start taking the space more seriously and learning how to spot legit airdrops etc So yeah, I can honestly say TON is the reason I even created this account in the first place. And now you understand why I post about TON and Telegram so much. It is not a coincidence.

    Today reminds me of when I first created this account because of crypto and the excitement around the space. I had no idea how much this platform would shape my journey, the people I would meet, or the community I would end up building. It has been a wild 6 year journey, and thinking back to that first day still feels unreal.
