People think Bitcoin is going to zero because one entity decided they loved it and bought too much.

Happy Throwback Thursday "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution." "We have proposed a system for electronic transactions without relying on trust." Let's remember the mission. Peer to peer cash, freedom money and fuck the banks.

Legit huge. The first time a block was mined on a pool where the miner picked the transactions included in the block using an open, standardized protocol. The future of mining is here, its just unevenly distributed.

Trezor is Born from the fire! The hack that led to the creation of @Trezor started with a third-party server. A hacker compromised Slush Pool's hosting provider, not Slush's own infrastructure and walked away with 3000 Bitcoin. Slush paid every user back out of his own pocket. Then he decided he needed a more secure way to sign transactions. That's how Trezor was born. Bitcoin Takeover S17E14.

What Happened to Freedom Money What does it mean for Bitcoin to be freedom technology if the people who own it cannot actually use it freely? This is the core question underneath Moonsettler's pessimism, and it does not have a comfortable answer. The vision was peer-to-peer electronic cash. Money that moves between individuals without an intermediary who can surveil, censor, or confiscate. What exists today is an asset that is mostly held in custody, mostly traded on regulated exchanges that require government ID, and mostly unavailable in any self-sovereign form to the people who would benefit most from it. The inversion is complete. Bitcoin that has been used for privacy-preserving purposes, that has passed through coinjoins or been held outside the regulated financial system, is now worth less than Bitcoin that has a clean chain analysis record and can be deposited to Coinbase without triggering a compliance review. The premium goes to the compliant coin. The free-range coin is discounted.

Bitcoin's vision of freedom is constrained, compliant coins command a premium, and decentralized coins are undervalued.
